Asus apparently will cut down the 7-inch netbook line and not the 8.9-inch one.
Asus denied the recent rumor of phasing out the 8.9-inch netbook product line and said instead they will terminate the 7-inch line. This is confirmed by company Chairman Jonney Shih to ZDNet UK during a press conference, during which he told that the manufacturer would concentrate on its 10-inch netbooks, which he said customers preferred.
"It seems that customers prefer to have a greater screen, which also means a larger keyboard," Shih said. "I still believe we have a good opportunity in 8.9-inch for kids, telecoms [providers] or emerging markets. The seven-inch [netbook] is going to be phased out, although some emerging countries may still have some demand."
Actually in the recent times the 10-inch netbook line has seen a sudden rise to stardom, which will owe it to the fact that the keyboard gets larger too and in fact in the 10-inch netbook, it gets just comfortable enough at 92% of the desktop one.
