MSI unveils the new wind U123 at the ongoing CTIA, with improved processing speed.
The netbook vendors have been quick to adapt to the new Intel Atom N280 processor. The latest one to incorporate this within itself is the new MSI wind U123, which was announced yesterday at the ongoing CTIA.
The wind U123, like we've seen in Asus EEE PC 1000 HE, will get a minor boost in the clock speed with the new N280 which is counted at 1.66 GHz over the earlier N270 which had a clock speed of 1.6 GHz. Apart from this, it is not much different from your usual netbook. The U123 boasts a 10.2 inch LED display with the 1024 X 600 screen resolution, along with one GB of memory. It also sports a 4-in-1 card reader, three USB ports, and a 1.3 megapixel WebCam.
To go hand-in-hand with the present technology, the U123 throws in an integrated 3G and a TV tuner, the latter of which we do not see often in netbooks, except probably in Dell Inspiron mini 10. The connectivity options are 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth. At 160 GB, the hard disk space is almost twice that of the original wind. You have an option of buying this netbook with a six cell battery or a nine cell battery. It is in fact quite light, weighing less than three pounds including the six cell battery.
This baby comes in four shades – black, grey, red and white. No words on the pricing yet.
