You can now add a Broadcom HD decoder separately
The Samsung N120 by default can’t decode 1080p HD videos smoothly. There is a way though, as found out by SammyNetbook forum member lilydreamy, that the laptop has a spare PCIe slot that can accommodate the Broadcom HD Decoder.
The Broadcom HD decoder is available from eBay for under $30. The installation process is also pretty simple – you just have to open the case and fit the HD decoder and close it. There is a video to prove the dramatically improved viewing pleasure here.
The N120 is powered by a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor with 1 GB RAM and a 160GB hard disk –same as the N120. It has a decent 10.1” screen with a resolution of 1024 X 600. Despite the 6 cell battery it weighs only 2.8 pounds, has a 3 in 1 multicard reader and the standard WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 and an Ethernet Jack. In spite of having a 6-cell battery (though 5200mAh as compared to 5900 mAh in the N110), it gives less life than the N110 due to the improved audio quality – which also makes it $10 cheaper. Samsung N120 is available in two colors black and white.
