This Atom-based SBC gives netbook-like performance with very low power consumption
InHand Electronics, a low-power embedded solutions provider for OEMs of wireless and handheld devices, has released the latest version of their Intel Atom-based full-function single board computer (SBC) called the FireFly. This SBC provides netbook like performance and extremely low power consumption levels like – 4.5 Watts running and 500mW in sleep state. It offers a full-function system with onboard DDR2 and expansion capabilities.
Dan Rowland, VP of Marketing at InHand Electronics, said, “The performance and low power of FireFly far surpass anything we’ve seen on the Intel Atom system market thus far. In our most recent tests, FireFly’s performance is comparable to that of the Dell Mini [Inspiron 1210], at a fraction of the power consumption. And with no need for time or money to create a daughter card for a full-function system, FireFly offers a quick and easy time-to-market without compromising power or performance!”
The FireFly can be used to power devices that might eventually be smaller than the average handheld / UMPC / MID.
