Gateway upgrades its P series FX gaming lineup

The new notebooks are cheaper and better than before
Gateway has launched upgrades to its P series FX gaming notebooks in the form of two new notebook models i.e. Gateway P-7807u FX edition and Gateway P-7809u FX edition. These new models feature the following upgrades:
· Faster processor
· Increased hard disk space
· New security software
· New productivity software
· New application software
· Reduced prices
The P-7807u is powered by Intel Core2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache) processor, while the P-7809u runs on Intel Core2 Duo P8700 (2.53GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache) processor. Both these processors offer improved speed and performance over the Intel Core2 Duo P8400 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache) processor which used to power the earlier P-7805u model.
The 7805u and 7807u have a 320 GB (7200 rpm) SATA hard disk drive for storage, whereas, the 7809u has a 500GB (5400rpm) SATA HDD. There is a new security software i.e. Norton Internet Security 2009 on the new machines which is an improvement over the earlier Symantec Norton 360 2008. The new notebook models also include productivity software like Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash Player, Gateway MyBackup Solution, and Gateway Recovery Management solution. The productivity software was absent on the earlier 7805u model. In terms of application software Microsoft Windows Live Essentials has been added, while Microsoft Money Essentials is absent on the new models.
Other features remain the same as before:
· 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 RAM
· NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS Graphics with 1GB of GDDR3 virtual memory and Intel PM45 Chipset
· Intel WiFi Link 5100AGN 802.11a/g/Draft-N Wireless LAN, Ethernet port
· 9-Cell Lithium Ion battery
· 17-inch High-Definition widescreen WXGA display with a resolution of 1440 x 900
· ExpressCard Type 54
· (3) USB 2.0, VGA Connector, IEEE 1394b, eSATA Port, HDMI, DVI-D
· 5-in-1 digital card reader
· 8x multi-format dual layer DVDRW and DVD-RAM
· 1.3MP webcam
The 7807u has a price tag of $1,099 and the 7809u will retail at $1,249, which is cheaper than the $1,299 price tag of the 7805u. The exact availability of these models has not yet been disclosed.
