New Asus Eee PC roadmap revealed
The latest road-map is out on the net
Apparently a recent post on the Asus user forum, by JazzDoc, reveals the immediate roadmap of the ASUS Eee PC netbooks. It reveals new Eee PC products including a 12” ION mini-notebook.
So it seems like the 12” ION powered mini-notebook, the 1210N, will be launched in October. It will sport an Atom N270 processor, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Bluetooth, and 802.11n Wi-FI and will be priced at $499. There is also an intension of the 1000HE being phased out, which is uncertain as of now. There’s news about the touchscreens – the multi-touch enabled T91MT will be released with 32GB RAM with a price of $549 – preceding the T101P which will see the light of day only next year (This is the netbook with an Atom 450 CPU and Win7).
The 1008HA series will see the dawn of two new models – the 1008HA-P with Atom N280 processor, 320GB HDD, 2GB RAM, BT, 802.11n Wi-Fi (priced at $480) and the 1008HA-M sporting Atom N280 processor, 250GB HDD, 1GB RAM, BT, 802.11n Wi-Fi (priced at $430). This will also mean the EOL (End of life) for the older 10” and 11.6” 1008HA models.
The 1005HA-P and 1005HA-M should get an upgraded 250GB HDD along with Windows 7 Starter, when Windows 7 goes on sale in late October.
This could be a sudden development after rumors that Acer and Asus are not going to launch any new netbook models in second half 2009. It’s been said that they have postponed their plans to launch new netbooks till Q1 2010. The reason behind this delay has to do with Intel delaying the launch of its new Pine Trail-M platform (which includes Atom N450 processor) until Q1 2010.
Not included in the road-map are the rumors of Asus planning to release Moblin-powered Eee PCs by October.
