New kid on the block - the Eee PC 1002H

Asus brings out yet another Eee PC – the 1002H is not much different from the 1002HA or the 1000HE

As if we have not had enough of Eee PCs already – Asus brings out yet another piece, and again, the new 1002H does not have anything innovative to boast about.

The new Eee PC 1002H is almost exactly like 1002HA, except the processor used is the slightly improved 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 instead of the old 1.6GHz N270 used in the 1002HA. But does that remind you of a machine called 1000HE? Yeah, you are right – it is the first Asus Eee PC with the latest N280. Do not think you will get much extra with the 1002H as compared to the 1000HE though, except for a smaller battery with reduced life.

The 1002H comes with the new 92% chiclet-style keyboard. In case you have not come across the 1002HA or the 1000HE, let me take you though the specifications – the 10-inch netbook comes with a LED Backlight WSVGA screen and 1024x600 resolution. The memory is a GB although is upgradable. Asus provides you with 160GB HDD space along with 10GB of what they call the “Eee storage” which gives you options of real-time automatic back-up, full data encryption and version control. Connectivity is taken care of by the WLAN: 802.11b/g/n @2.4GHz and Bluetooth V2.0 + EDR. The 1.2 kg machine has a dimension of 264mm(W) x 181mm(D) x 27.6mm(H).

The chassis uses infusion technology which makes the Eee motif is inlaid within the laptop surface itself. The whole chassis is also coated in a scratch resistant and hard-coated surface which means that the design should not fade over time – as observed by netbookchoice.
