Asus has recently launched a wide variety of notebooks which include both Intel and AMD powered machines. The new notebooks are available in various sizes ranging from 15.6-inches to 17.3 inches.

First on hand is the Asus U50VG-XX060C which has a 15.6-inch display with 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1366x768. The U50 series was earlier shown by Asus at CeBit 2009. This machine is powered by a 2.1GHz Intel Core2 Duo T6500 processor which is based on Intel Montevina technology. It supports up to 4GB of RAM and is equipped with a 512MB Nvidia GeForce G105M graphics processor. There is a 250GB hard disk for storing all the latest movies, songs, and games. A HDMI port enables the user to connect the U50VG to an external high-definition display. There is also a built-in 1.3MP webcam which enables user to do video conferencing. Connectivity is provided by WiFi 802.11b/g/n. Talking about the exterior, this notebook is pretty stylish and has a backlit chiclet-style keyboard. This model retails in Italy at a price of €943.20 which is inclusive of all taxes (around $1,320).

Next in line is the Asus K50 series of notebooks which has two new 15.6-inch models under the same series, one is the Asus K50AB which runs on a 2.3GHz AMD Turion 64X2 Ultra ZM-84 processor and the other is the Asus K50IJ which is powered by a 2GHz Intel Pentium dual-core T4200 processor. Both the models come equipped with 4GB of RAM and graphic processors which enhance the video experience. While the first one uses the ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 with 512 MB of virtual memory, the second model uses the Intel GMA X4500HD graphics with shared memory. The K50AB is available at a price of €793.20 ($1,110), while the K50IJ retails at €628.80 ($880), both inclusive of tax.

Asus has also launched a new 15.6-inch notebook aimed at the business user, the ASUS F52Q-SX071E is powered by a 2GHz Intel Pentium Dual Core T3200 processor and has 2GB of RAM. The GL40 chipset provides for the onboard graphics. This machine comes preloaded with Windows Vista operating system, but, it can be downgraded to Windows XP. This notebook is priced at €643.20 or $898.

Finally, Asus has launched two new 17.3-inch notebooks under the K70 series, which are powered by AMD processors. The CK70AB-TY002C runs on an AMD Turion 64X2 RM 74 2.2GHz processor, while the K70AB-TY001C steps up to a 2.3GHz AMD Turion 64X2 Ultra ZM-84 processor. Both the systems have a 17.3-inch 1,600 x 900 resolution LED-backlit display which is powered by 4GB of DDR2 RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 with 512MB of virtual memory. The two notebooks will go on sale for €793.20 ($1,107) and €868.80 ($1,215) respectively.
