Considering the fact that notebook sales are on the rise as compared to desktop sales, LG has decided to further strengthen its position in this market by launching five new models under the WideBook range of notebooks - the R580/R560, R480/R460 and R380

“Notebooks are more popular than desktop PCs in many parts of the world due to their mobility and connectivity. The key to success in the market going forward is to design lighter, more stylish notebooks with powerful PC-like functions,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We believe that LG’s advanced technology and experience in the mobile sector positions us well to deliver cutting-edge products to our consumers.”

This new WideBook series of notebooks is available in various screen sizes. While the R580 and R560 have a 15.6-inch display, the R480 and R460 notebooks have a 14-inch screen and the R380 has a 13.3-inch display panel. The R580 and R480 are positioned as premium models and sport a stylish design, while the R560 and R460 are reliable everyday workhorses and the R380 offers a blend of performance at an affordable price.

Talking about the specs, the WideBook series of notebooks have a 16:9 aspect ratio LED backlit HD screen capable of resolutions of 1600x900 and 1368x768 pixels. Alongside the HD screen these systems include SRS TruSurround HD sound that brings movies to life. These devices are powered by Intel Core2 Duo processors, 2GB-4GB of turbo memory, and have a DDR2 1GB dedicated GeForce graphics card which helps in bringing the screen content to life. 

LG has also bundles a Smart pack with the WideBook range that helps provide customization and quick diagnosis of errors. Smart Indicator is a customizable quick-launch feature that helps the user to set up a lost of frequently used functions for easy access. Smart Care and Smart Recovery provides system diagnosis and repairs. There is also a Smart On feature on the WideBook 380 that lets the users to rapidly access commonly used applications like messenger, games, mp3, etc.

On the exterior the WideBook is really stylish having a UV coating and trendy low-profile chrome hinge. The premium R580 and R480 models also include a row of backlit blue buttons to provide quick access to features. Moreover, users can choose from a variety of colors including shiny white, crystal black, pink, etc.

These five new models will be rolled out first in Turkey, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia, followed by other countries in Asia, Europe, North America and Latin America throughout September.

  • 6-cell Li-Ion 2200mAh battery

All the models come with pre-installed software like Cyberlink YouCam, SRS WOW, LG Smart Suite, etc.
