The carrier unveiled its first netbook with Dell – Inspiron Mini 10 3G

After the network-carrier announced that they would offer an Android smartphone later this year, it seemed like Cellular South wants to join another bandwagon - netbooks. The carrier brought out its latest offering - the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook with built-in 3G modem to support its network.

The Inspiron Mini 10, when came out, aimed to strike the perfect balance between functionality, pricing and size. It comes with a 10.1” LCD screen capable of displaying 1024x576 pixels. Dell explains it properly as "The Mini 10 starts out simple and becomes more complex from there."

It is powered by an Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, up to 160GB hard disk space and comes with a 3-cell battery (optional 6-cell), webcam, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a card reader. Dell has also thrown in a HDMI connector, Windows XP SP3 and Intel's own GMA500 graphics solution. The 92% keyboard is the reason many would like to migrate to the 10” from a lower size, and it holds well against many formidable competitors like HP Mini 2140 and MSI Wind.

Cellular South will offer Dell’s this system in black and white (although it is available in six different shades - Obsidian Black, Alpine White, Cherry Red, Pretty Pink, Ice Blue and Jade Green) for $199 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year mobile broadband agreement which starts at $39.99 ($29.99 for students). There’s also an instant offer going on - the first 2,400 customers to place a netbook order also will receive a free USB thumb drive with the original Transformers movie!

Are we also looking at an Android netbook shortly? Never know.
