The T1028 can be given this 3rd-party battery
Asus Eee PC T91 convertible netbook isn’t the first netbook with a tablet-style touchscreen. Gigabyte already had the luxury-style TouchNote T1028, which comes with an option of two types of batteries – a Li-Ion 4 cells, ~4500mAh Battery, battery life 4hrs or a Li-Ion 6 cells, ~7650mAh Battery, battery life 6.5hrs. But although the company claims so, many users complain of less than expected battery life.
So Chippy at UMPC Portal got his hands on this Ultimate Netbook U20 battery pack which did a good job of back-up power duties. He bought the 6-cell battery pack option at a hefty 68 Euros, which apparently has 170% the capacity of the standard battery and is returning 5.5 to 6hrs on-net working time which is pretty commendable. Unfortunately the 6-cell sticks out too far for it to fit into the supplied case but if you attach the standard cell and put the 6-cell in the case pocket you’ve got up to 9 hours of netbooking – according to Chippy of course, and it can vary according to individual situations! Total weight of the T1028M with the 6-cell attached is 1450gm. (3lb 3oz)
The T1028 is a gorgeous-lookin’ notebook, which features a 10” display panel that can be folded down over the keyboard for use in tablet mode. The panel has a resolution of up to 1024x600 pixels. You have an option of choosing the N270 (1.6 GHz) or the N280 (1.66 GHz). The TouchNote provides a 92-percent full-sized keyboard, and a 160 GB 2.5-inch 9.5mm SATA hard drive (5400 RPM), 1GB RAM with Max 2GB, 1.3M pixels webcam and Microsoft Windows XP Home.
You can pick up the extended battery from MobilX.
