The 12-inch Ion-powered Lenovo S12 is now up on the Lenovo website.
The 12-inch S12 features the latest NVIDIA ION GPU which is nothing but a bundle of an Atom processor with the NVIDIA graphics card. It aims at providing HD experience with capability to process 1080p videos in the otherwise underpowered and low-cost machines. Lenovo’s IdeaPad S12 promises to deliver 1080p HD content through the HDMI output. It also provides for real time video transcoding and accelerated video enhancement. Previously, netbooks have been used for office purposes only but now thanks to the NVIDIA Ion GPU, they can be used for mainstream gaming as well.
The Lenovo Ideapad S12 is listed in two variants - 295954U and 295955U. Only difference between the two is the colour – black and white. Both of them have the same processor – the Atom N270 with clocking of 1.6GHz, 533MHz of FBS and 512KB of cache memory. User has an option to choose between Intel’s GMA 950 and NVIDIA Ion GPU. Each has a 12.1-inch LED backlit WXGA TFT display having a resolution of 1280x800. Each of these netbook offers upto 160GB of hard drive storage space to store all the games, movies, photos, and music, running at 5400rpm. It also features a 100% full size keyboard which offers ease of typing. Both the systems come with a GB of PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM (667MHz). The 6-cell Lithium Ion battery can give you up to 3 hours of juice. Connectivity is taken care of by the Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless. You get to take it (or Have to) home with Windows XP Home pre-loaded.
It is priced at a competitive $499. Shop it here.
