Category: new notebook modelsBy: Matthias Bauer
The manufacturer Alienware offers a 15.4” with Penryn CPU and Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX.
The Alienware Area-51 m15x got upgraded. Now, it is possible to equip the 15.4” notebook with an Intel Core 2 Extreme X9000 CPU with 2.8 GHz. This processor has a 6 MB cache, and the front side bus speed is 800 MHz. Alienware installs an Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX graphic card with 512 MB VRAM, and the m15x is the first 15.4”-notebook in the world with such hardware specifications. Another nice feature of this notebook is its disengageable graphic card, which is called BinaryGFX. This technology enables tuning off the graphic card, and using the internal one instead. Furthermore, the m15x offers a SmartBay. It is possible using an optical drive, an additional battery or another hard disk in this bay. Certainly, it is possible to equip the m15x with a BluRay drive, and a solid state drive. Besides, a WLAN adapter with Intel Wireless LAN 802.11n standard, Bluetooth 2.0, Gigabit LAN, Firewire, USB 2.0, an ExpressCard slot, and a 7-in-1 card reader are included. The Area-51 m15x is already available and starts at € 2.144,-.
