Dell Mini 10 details leaked

Fresh information about the upcoming Dell Mini 10 has been leaked.

On the heels of their canceling the shipment of the Dell Mini 12 netbooks for now, the rumors of a new Mini 10-inch machine gets deeper by the day. Is it because Dell finally couldn’t seem to quite know what it wants the Mini 12 to be: it's the size of a notebook, designed like an ultra-portable and spaced like a netbook.

The Dell Mini 10 HD netbook was officially announced at the Consumer Electronics Show last month, but Dell then didn’t continue the buzz on its own and seems to concentrate on the Mini 12.

According to a leaked presentation slide, the base model of the Dell Mini 10 will have a as-the-name-suggests 10.1” panel along with a 16:9 WSVGA (1024x576) display. The 720p HD display (1366x768) will come as an option, as will the integrated TV tuner. With both screens, you can expect an "edge-to-edge display" and a "super thin design" at just 21mm of total thickness. There will also be option of two processors - a 1.3GHz or 1.6GHz Intel Atom Silverthorne CPU. There’s no built-in optical drive, but it will have an optional “DVD slice” which presumably clips onto the base of the netbook. Two batteries will be on offer, a 3-cell promising 3-4hrs runtime, or a 6-cell for 6-8hrs. However, the Mini 10 will measure 21mm thick and weigh 1.3kg (around 2.87lbs) – which is touch heavier than the Mini 12.

Apart from that, as Softpedia observes - the Mini 10 will provide users with basically the same netbook features that are available for most in the market. The netbook should support up to 2GB of memory and provide a choice for either a 120GB or a 160GB 2.5-inch hard drive. Additional features include a 1.3MP webcam, options for WiFi g/n, Bluetooth, WWAN and GPS connectivity, TV Tuner, 3 USB ports, HDMI, mic and headphone ports and a 5-in-1 card reader.
