The new Latitude Z is Dell’s second answer to a Macbook Air
Earlier this year, Dell announced the much-hyped Adamo laptop, an ultraportable 13” notebook designed to become a competitor for the Macbook Air. Even they reduced the price recently in order to better compete with the Macbook Air. Now it appears that Dell is preparing another assault on Apple, with the introduction of the brand-new Latitude Z-series - an ultraportable laptop that will be designed for professionals.
Just recently, some details leaked on this upcoming ultraportable PC. Apparently Latitude Z will be powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with a clocking of 1.6GHz an FSB of 533MHz. It will come with 2GB or 4GB of RAM and a huge 256GB solid-state drive. The system also comes with a fingerprint and RFID reader, a 2MP webcam and a display panel of 1,600 x 900 pixels. It will run on a choice of Windows Vista or Windows 7.
The system could be launched by late August or early, but sure news is not there. As far as pricing goes, it should be upward of $2K.
