Just for all you enthusiasts...
People have been modifying netbooks by adding touch screen displays and by removing the keyboard. People are using netbooks to experiment out new things like modifying netbooks to put new features which make them even more attractive and useful. One of the most popular modifications which came into light in recent days is converting netbooks into PC tablets. The most recent modification in this segment is conversion of the Dell Mini 9 into a motion-sensitive tablet.
This latest modification has been done by rock99rock a member of MyDellMini forum. This guy converted his Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook into an 8.9 inch touchscreen tablet working on Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. With this he also added another very exciting feature i.e. motion sensors to sense motion orientation similar to what is found in the iPhone. This motion sensor automatically rotates the screen when the position of the tablet shifts.
For this modification you don’t need to spend a lot of money but you have to go through lots of mental stress as it involves very complex electronic circuitry. For this conversion you have to install a motion controller like ActionXL Wired Motion Controller as this is the best option. This motion controller is available for just $20. You need to install software which helps in auto rotating the display as you rotate the screen by mapping the motion controls to the key combinations used to manually rotate the display.
This touchscreen tablet with 1GB of RAM, 16GB SSD, WiFi, Bluetooth, and an Intel Atom processor will run faster and boot even faster into windows than the netbook. This touchscreen tablet is very easy to handle and you can hold it in one hand for fast net surfing as compared to the netbook
As this modification involves changing lot of electronic circuitry i.e. removal of keyboard, reversing the display, etc. you are sure to get your product warranty void. In case you are an enthusiast/gadget freak and want to go ahead with the modification, I would suggest go on, as it would really be worth the trouble.
