Acer Germany officially released to new aspire 10 inch models – the D250 and the 531.
There is no doubt that the 10 inch net books rule the market now. At the top of the heap is the aspire one model. It has always been. In fact to aspire model accounted for more than 30 per cent of the netbook market share in the last quarter of 2008, predictably inspired them to launch two new models in the 10 inch category.
Aspire One D250
The aspire one D250 is an upgrade over the original 10 inch D150. It has the same 10.1 inch panel with a 1024 x 600 WSVGA display and powered by an Intel atom N280 processor which comes with a clock speed of 1.68 GHz. This new member has up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, 2.5 inch 160GB hard-drive and multiformat card reader. There’s also WiFi b/g, a 0.3-megapixel webcam (I would’ve liked the normal 1.3MP better), optional Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and a choice of triband or quadband UMTS/HSPA modems. There is also optional 3-D connectivity.
The 98% keyboard comes with a trackpad that responds to multitouch gestures and three battery options are available - a 2200mAh 3-cell unit good for up to 3.15hrs, a 4400mAh 6-cell unit good for up to 6hrs, or a 5200mAh 6-cell that can give you up to 7.5hrs of battery life. Weight with the 3-cell is 1.11kg, while with the 6-cell it’s 1.27kg. The D250 has three USB 2.0 ports along with a VGA output, audio in/out and Ethernet. You get a copy of Windows XP Home along with.
The D250 is colourful like any other aspire one model, comes in three flavors - red, blue or black. You can buy this upgraded model at amazon.de for a retail price of euro 379.
Aspire one 531
Almost identical to the D250, the aspire one 531 also comes with a 10.1 inch 1024 x 600 WSVGA panel, like the D250. You have a choice between the N270 with 1.6 GHz and the N280 with 1.68 GHz. The memory is expandable to 2GB. It also comes with the 0.3M webcams, no Draft N Wifi, 2.5” 160GB HDD. Others specifications are almost similar with the D250, just that both are different in their external looks. The 531 looks more on the executive side. It is also touch lighter at 1kg and 1.15 with 3-cell and 6-cell batteries included respectively.
The aspire one 531, is available on Amazon.de for Euro 399.
