Notebooks based on Tigris platform may also get delayed till late October
According to a recent news report by Digitimes, MSI is likely to roll out notebooks based on the AMD Yukon platform in October. The Yukon platform was introduced way back in January and it was expected that devices based on this platform will make an appearance in April but, it seems as if now these devices will make an appearance in October. This platform will compete against Intel’s CULV (consumer ultra low voltage) platform. MSI has already completed the testing of notebooks based on this platform but, it has not come out with any specific release date.
There is also news that AMD's upcoming Tigris notebook platform may be postponed till late-October. AMD's Tigris platform previously was expected to launch at the beginning of September along with Windows 7 in the Asia market, followed by North America, Europe, Mid-East and Africa in October. The company has already landed orders from Hewlett-Packard (HP), Toshiba, Acer, and Asustek. The Tigris platform will integrate a 45nm dual-core Caspian processor, 55nm or 40nm M9x GPUs and the company's RS880M chipsets. It will support DDR2 800MHz memory and HD video decoding, along with DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connections. This platform will be seen on devices with screen size of 14-inches or more.
