Toshiba has just rolled out two new notebook models that have the privilege of being the first ever touchscreen notebook models to be sold by Toshiba. The Toshiba Satellite M505 and Toshiba Satellite U505 touchscreen notebooks have similar configurations but differ in sizes. While the M505 has a 14-inch display, the U505 has a smaller 13.3-inch display. The configuration of these two models is as follows:
- 2.2GHz Intel Core2 Duo processor (T6600)
- Intel 4500MHD graphics
- Up to 8GB RAM
- 500GB hard disk drive
- Slot-loading Multi-format DVD
- Webcam with built-in microphone
- WiFi 802.11b/g/n and Ethernet
- HDMI port
- SPDIF out
- 6-cell Li Ion battery
- 1 eSATA/USB combo port with USB Sleep-and-Charge
- 2 USB 2.0 ports
- Windows 7 Home Premium operating system
The interesting part about these notebooks is that they come preloaded with two softwares namely - Bulletin Board and Reel Time. The Bulletin Board is a customized desktop which has been made specifically for touchscreen notebooks. This software enables user to use touch in order to browse photos, to do lists, calender, etc. The other software is called Reel Time which can be thought of as a touch version of "My recent documents". It basically displays all the files which have been opened recently, users can then touch on one of the files to re-open it.You will get a much better idea of what I am saying if you refer to the pictures posted alongside.
Since, these models come pre-loaded Windows 7 operating system, users won't be able to get their hands on these models before the formal launch party of Windows 7 i.e. October 22nd. The Satellite U505 has a price tag of $1,049 and the Satellite M505 has a price tag of $950.
Related News: While I was going through the official website of Toshiba, I noticed that Toshiba is giving huge discounts on various laptop models as a part of its end of season sales. Users will be able to avail a discount of $1000 on Qosmio X305-Q708 notebooks. Apart from this there are huge discounts on Satellite notebooks also. Users will also be able to take advantage of money saving schemes which are applicable on accessories, wireless products, printers, TV tuners, etc. If any one is planning to buy a Toshiba, now is the time as users will also get free ground shipping on orders above $499. For those of you who are not planning to part away with their old laptop, you better think again, as Toshiba is offering a scheme under which you can offset the cost of your new laptop by trading-in your old laptop.
