This beautiful thing is the way MID is heading for
It was among the couple of MIDs the Chinese manufacturer Inkia brought out last month. The 5” TFT screen has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It is powered by the Atom Z510 or you have an option of having the Z520 or Z530. The chipset is Intel US15W. The device has a 1GB on-board memory and supports Micro SD (T-Flash), in case you want to increase the memory.
Yellow Tiger of shanzai.com got his hands on such a boy, wasn’t he impressed. There’s a lot of talk around about the MID category, but as we’re trying to prove with our MID Hunter challenge, you don’t often see them in the wild. That might be about to change if this sub-USD300 device is anything to go by – are his words.
For connectivity the Inkia 500 has 2 USB ports, 1 TF card slot, and supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and optional 3G or GPS modules. A 0.3mp camera is on the left top of the screen, and at the right side, there’s an optical track point; speakers are placed down both sides. The backside houses a removable battery which is a 2-cell 1900mAh unit, more than enough to support a 5” MID.
Size-wise it measures 165mmx95mmx25mm, and weighs only 360g. It’s about the same size as a PSP but with a much wider screen.
