MSI first to use PineTrail platform
Category: new notebook modelsBy: Joe Freeman
Expected launch in December
According to a recent DigiTimes report MSI looks likely to be the first manufacturer to implement the new PineTrail Processer Platform by Intel.
A press release by Intel stated that the new processor platform wouldn’t be available until 2010. MSI looks keen to jump the gun by releasing their Netbook running a PineView processer by December. AsusTek and Acer are also planning new products to use the PineTrail Platform.
Details are still few and far between for PineTrail although many details will no doubt soon be leaked with its imminent arrival. It is known that the platform will be designed for Windows 7 and will also have touch-screen capabilities.
To clear up any confusion concerning Pine Trail/View, PineTrail is the platform of processors which will likely contain more than one model. PineView is the specific processer likely to be implemented in the MSI Netbook.
