How many Nvidia graphic chips are defective?
Category: rumorsBy: Matthias Bauer
Nvidia’s notice from last week says that some of their graphic chips are defective. They did not tell how many so far.
Nvidia released a notice which says that some of their graphic chips are faulty and it costs about $ 250 million to repair them.
The manufacturer did not tell which chips are defective and also did not tell how much chips are affected. It can be supposed that this problem is a serious one.
The Inquirer reports that every G84 and G86 GPU of the series 8400M and 8600M is affected from those errors (the Nvidia press executives did not confirm this). Both cards use the same ASIC.
But those are rumours so far.
