Phoenix Freeze prevents Unwanted Access to your Laptop with New Bluetooth Proximity Lock System
Phoenix Technologies Ltd., which is headquartered in California, is a global market leader in system firmware that offers a secure foundation for today's computing environments. Some of the company’s flagship products and services include -- Phoenix SecureCore, MicroCore, Embedded BIOS, FailSafe and HyperSpace.
The company recently released software called the Phoenix Freeze which offers great security for Laptop users. This software is based on a new and innovative technology called the Bluetooth Proximity Lock system for which the company has also filed a patent which is still pending. Now what this software does is that it rests on your Notebook and also on your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone such that both the devices are paired, when the user walks away from the system with their phones the computer automatically locks down. Thus, preventing unwanted access and giving the user a secure and safe environment to work in.
A great feature of this software is that it eliminates the need to re-enter user password or swipe fingers on the biometric sensor. As soon as the mobile phone comes within a pre-defined proximity level the laptop automatically unlocks thereby offering greater convenience. The software has a GUI which allows ease of customization by the user. Moreover, the users can use a single mobile phone with multiple laptops. Besides locking the system down the software can also switch off the screen so as to save power.
The software is available for download through www.phoenixfreeze.com and currently supports only Windows XP and Vista although the company has promised to release a version compatible with Mac OS X and Windows 7 at a later stage.
