Companies now-a-days act quickly when it comes to saving their image and brand name. In the past, we have seen companies offering users free replacement of faulty computer hardware e.g. HP, Dell, and Sony offered free replacement of Nvidia’s faulty graphics chips and not to forget the massive recall of batteries by Sony and HP.

Lenovo has also issued a battery recall on six of its ThinkPad models namely the R60, R61, T60, T61, X60, and the X61. The batteries are believed to be causing problems like – bringing up the error messages "irreparable damage" and "battery cannot be charged" and causing overall short capacity batteries. Some batteries can’t even be charged while others experience massive battery life drainage.  Lenovo is offering users a free diagnostic tool which can be downloaded here. The tool will tell whether your battery is faulty or not and in case it is faulty Lenovo will offer a free replacement. Along with the model numbers Lenovo has also issued a list of Battery FRU part numbers which are faulty. These battery FRU part numbers are as follows:

·         R60, R61, T60, T61 – 42T4546, 42T4566, 92P1141

·         X60, and the X61 – 42T4550, 42T4567, 42T4568, 92P1169, 92P1173, 93P5028, 93P5030

Users should not worry about the battery parts as Lenovo has specifically said that these faulty batteries do not pose any safety hazard.
