The slimmer Archos 10 to hit streets by mid-October

If you thought Archos 10s has something to do with the Archos 10, you are right. It is just a slimmer Archos 10. The "s" stands for Slim. Now Liliputing says that the 10s should be available by mid-October for about $399.

The Archos 10s sports a 10.2” LED-backlit screen that has a resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels. Powered by a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, this new member of the Archos family offers 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard disk – the usual configuration you will find in any netbook, especially since Microsoft has kept this as a restriction for using its OS. There are three USB ports, a card reader and LAN port, as well as WiFi 802.11b/g as for wireless connection and a built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam. There's also a built-in 3G modem.

When you buy the 10s, you earn some media software and free credit for downloads from the Archos Media Store. One strange this is that even after releasing so close to the Windows 7 release date, the Archos 10s will come with Win XP.

The French company has been constantly adding to its portfolio of portable computers. The previous Archos 9PC Tablet promises the performance of a high end PC with breathtaking aesthetics, excellent ergonomics and a tactile interface. Let’s see what the 10s can provide.
