The iiView A2 slim netbook comes with Windows 7 pre-installed
iiView, a Singapore-based notebook vendor, recently unveiled this new netbook called the A2 with a generous 12.1” display panel. The A2 has a 12.1” (1,280 x 800) display panel powered by a 1.6GHz N270 Atom CPU and Intel 945 chipset. You’ll get a 2GB RAM and a 320GB HDD as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and 2 USB ports. Just yesterday I discovered this review by Charles Papp of BabyPC where he found this babe to be quite hot.
The one thing that’ll set the A2 apart from the rest is the slim, streamlined style – and an effortless HD playback. The pre-installed Windows 7 helped. The keyboard could’ve been extending till the border, but still it’s quite comfortable –as Charles found out. The matte non-reflective screen and the matte finish on the inside will make sure it doesnot attract greases and dirt.
Windows 7 Home Premium that comes pre-installed performs well on this machine. The System Properties show an overall Windows Experience Index of 2.0 because of the integrated Intel(R) GMA 950 video adapter. This is made possible by the 2GB RAM and a 320GB HDD which are almost double of what you’ll find in other netbooks on the market today.
The pre-installed applications like RocketDock launcher to give it a more Mac-like feel, Skype, Google Earth, avast! Antivirus, WinRAR, Adobe Reader, and Super Internet TV could come in real handy. One other interesting find was the iiView Help application which allows you to share your desktop remotely with an iiView Support Representative to get hands on help online should you need it - as reported by Charles.
