500GB Seagate HDD for new Acer Travelmate laptops
Acer announced that its TravelMate series of notebooks will now be equipped with 2.5-inch Seagate Momentus 5400.6 hard drives with up to 500GB of space and a transfer rate of up to 87MB/s. Because of SoftSonic fluid-dynamic bearing motors the drives should be very quiet.
Seagate has also implemented a free-fall sensor called “G-Force Protection” for preventing data losses in the event that the notebook is dropped. The drives should be capable of withstanding 1,000 Gs when not operating and 350 Gs when operating.
