About two weeks ago Engadget got hold of a leaked product catalog which disclosed the all new HP Pavilion DM1 notebook. Until today little was known about this 11.6-inch beauty but now the DM1 has gone official in the land of the rising sun a.k.a. Japan. Before I disclose the complete technical specifications let me tell you that the DM1 is quite similar to the HP Mini 311, the only difference being a faster processor and the absence of the Nvidia Ion graphics. Here is the detaied spec sheet for you :

  • 1.2GHz Intel Celeron Su2300 dual-core processor
  • Intel GS45 Express chipset / Intel GMA 4500MHD Graphics
  • 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 pixel LED backlit glossy display
  • 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Ethernet
  • 250GB SATA HDD (5400 RPM)
  • Up to 5GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM 
  • Webcam
  • 5-in-1 Card Reader
  • HDMI, VGA, 2 USB ports, one audio jack
  • Altec Lansing speakers
  • Windows 7 Home Premium OS

This CULV (Consumer ultra low voltage) ultra-portable has a weight of  just 1.5Kgs and comes with a 6-cell Li-ion battery that offers a run time of about 8 hours. This model will go on sale in Japan in the month of November at a price of 70,000yen or $686. We are still waiting for a US launch.

In related news HP has just made the Pavilion DV8 official in UK. I have already mentioned the detailed technical specifications of this model in a previous news article but still I will just brief you up on the important specs. The DV8 is a complete entertainment powerhouse featuring a 18.4-inch full HD dislpay, Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce GT230M GPU with 1GB virtual memory, an in-built TV tuner card, and a Blu-ray drive.

HP has also made official updated versions of the Pavilion Dv6 and DV7 models. The updates basically consist of new processor options i.e. Intel Core i7 or AMD Turion II Ultra dual-core processor. Moreover, the users now get an option to add on an Nvidia GeForce GPU. These models will go on sale October 22nd onwards at a price of £1299 for the DV8, £599 for the updated DV7, and £449 for the updated Dv6.
