Nvidia CEO's Thoughts on Netbooks

Current Netbook Designs Detrimental to PC Software Industry
In a recent interview, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang has claimed that the Atom platform is actually detrimental to the PC software industry. When netbooks are incapable of running software well from the biggest manufacturers, it will impact consumer thinking about how a PC is defined. Huang seeks to change this trend by introducing the Ion platform.
Huang believes that the Ion platform will allow netbook vendors to produce designs with higher resolution or have 12 inch or larger displays. He believes that currently the Atom paired with integrated graphics from Intel would get crushed by AMD's Neo platform. However Huang claims, "Atom plus Ion will give Neo a good run for its money".
Despite the addition of the Ion platform to Atom powered netbooks, Huang believes prices for netbooks will still remain around $399.
