Acer will be introducing the successor to the Ferrari 1100 ultraportable computer in the UK pretty soon, and the new model will be known as the Ferrari 1200. Acer Ferrari 1200 notebook should combine powerful performance and extreme portability with the excellence of design. From the choice of materials Acer did, and going by the previous models of the same family, the Ferrari 1200 should also wear the look and feel of a F1 race car. The compay claims it used a “carbon-fibre cover, a material actually used in racecars, which is lighter yet stronger than magnesium alloy, making the Ferrari 1200 the perfect travel companion. Unique ventilation design echoes the exhaust pipes of F1 cars and the anodized-metal touchpad resembles the brake and acceleration pedals of a Ferrari car. A tasteful wave pattern embellishes the cover, while the soft-touch coating and the velvety texture of the interior ensure ergonomic comfort. “

Acer Ferrari 1200 has a 12.1-inch CrystalBrite LCD with LED backlight support for probable decreased power consumption as compared to older screens. The notebook is powered with an AMD Turion X2 Ultra dual-core processor with a 2MB total cache and an AMD M780G chipset with ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics. With an intension to make it a great gaming device, Acer packs in 4GB DDR2 memory in a dual-channel mode. Also, a SATA HDD with a large storage capacity is packed in with an Acer Bio-Protection fingerprint reader, for the security of the notebook and the data stored in it.

Although the price is not out, it could well burn a hole in your pocket.

All Acer notebooks come with a standard 1 year Carry In warranty.
