Duros is the exclusive distributor in North America of JLT Mobile Computers, and is the original equipment manufacturer of several other rugged computers on the market, including the 8560 and the 8570 G2 vehicle-mounted computers.
Duros has recently launched the 8404 rugged tablet PC which has been especially developed for users working out in the field, in varying environmental conditions. This Windows XP based tablet PC is sealed to IP-65 levels for dust and water ingress and tested to MIL STD 810F for vibration, functional shock, high and low temperatures and drops.
The Duros 8404 has an 8.4-inch sunlight viewable, SVGA (800x600 resolution) resistive touch screen display which can achieve brightness levels of 1,100 nit and has a viewing angle of 120 degrees. It is powered by an Intel Celeron M 1.0 GHz or an Intel Atom 1.0 GHz processor along with 1GB of RAM and up to 120GB of hard disk drive or 64GB of solid state drive for storage.
For connectivity this device has in built Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g, Ethernet port, and Bluetooth v2+EDR. Moreover, this device can be fitted with GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, WCDMA, and GPS. The device has a hot swappable 44Wh battery which diminishes downtime and provides continuous battery life. It has a weight of 1.9Kgs and the dimensions are 10.2(w) x 7.8(h) x 1.7(d)-inches. It also has a USB 2.0 port for external connections like a pen drive.
The Duros 8404 comes with a variety of accessories like carrying hook, shoulder case, vehicle docking station, handgrip, and wrist strap. Moreover, the user has an option to choose a color from nine different colors.
