Sager is a company known for developing powerful solutions for mobile gaming, video editing, and advanced business applications. Sager had recently launched the NP9280 gaming notebook which has now started shipping. The company claims it to be the world’s most powerful desktop replacement, and rightly so.  The NP9280 gaming behemoth is powered by the worlds fastest and most powerful processor till date i.e. Intel Core i7, along with the Intel X58 chipset which supports triple channel DDR3 memory. The base configuration includes the 2.66GHz Intel Core i7-920 processor (8MB L3 cache, 4.8GT/sec QPI), which can be upgraded to a 3.2GHz Intel Core i7-965 Extreme Edition processor (8MB L3 cache, 6.4GT/sec QPI). The system supports up to 12GB of triple-channel DDR3 RAM which reduces overall memory latency and provides high memory bandwidth.

The screen is a 17-inch (16:10 aspect ratio) WUXGA (1920x1200 resolution) super clear glare type display. Graphics muscle is provided by the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M GPU which offers 1GB of DDR3 Video Memory. Unlike Alienware M17x, the Sager NP9280 can not use twin GTX 280M GPUs in SLI mode. The GPU provides a more dynamic and realistic experience while the NVIDIA CUDA technology helps to accelerate the performance for even the most demanding system tasks such as video transcoding.

The gamers will never run out of storage space as this notebook can have up to three 2.5-inch SATA hard disks with support for RAID-0/1/5. There is an option of DVD±R/RW combo drive or Blu-ray/DVD±R/RW combo drive. The breathtaking audio experience is delivered by the built-in high definition sound system with the help of 4 built-in speakers. The keyboard is full sized and has a keypad along with hot keys for LCD Brightness, Suspend, Panel/CRT Display, E-Mail, and Web Browser. In addition to this there are two unique user defined programmable gaming buttons. Other features include:

·         HDMI output Port

·         DVI output Port (no HDCP support)

·         eSATA Port (VISTA only)

·         4 USB 2.0 Ports

·         4 Audio Jacks

·         IEEE-1394a Fire Wire

·         Ethernet, Bluetooth v2.1 +EDR, WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n

·         Kensington lock

·         3MP webcam

·         7-in-1 card reader

·         Express Card 34 / 54 Slot

This gargantuan gaming machine is powered by a 12-cell Li-ion battery. The dimensions of this notebook are 15.5 x 11.75 x 2.35 inches and its weight is a massive 11.55lbs. It has a dual tone high gloss exterior finish which lends a sleek look to this machine. The base has a couple of vents in order to cool off this behemoth which is likely to generate lots of heat. The NP9280 starts at a base price of $2,000 which can go as high as $7,000 with the Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition processor, 12GB of DDR3 memory, and three 160GB SSDs.
