Computer peripheral giant Logitech brings out the N100 notebook cooling pad.
As we go compact with computers, the scope of externally connected devices also reduces. Now Logitech is a major player in external keyboards and mice. I suppose they also are feeling the need to extend their product portfolio in order to stay in the hunt. And what could be a better client than the new kids on the block – the netbooks.
Notebook and specially netbook users, more than anyone else, are likely to their laps for support. So to keep your laps cool enough, Logitech now brings out the N100 notebook cooling pad – which well won’t bring waves, but at least add a brand image to the cooling devices category.
“We’ve identified two ways in which people use their laptops around the home – in structured spaces such as the home office, and unstructured spaces like the living room,” said Denis Pavillard, Logitech’s vice president of product marketing for keyboards and desktops. “Logitech now offers a range of solutions that enhance the laptop experience with designs based on our deep understanding of how people use their laptops around the home – and their desire to enjoy the convenience of a laptop, without sacrificing comfort.”
Apparently the N100 cooling pad improves airflow around your notebook making it cooler so that your thighs don’t get burnt. The pad features a slotted surface, which should allow the USB-powered fan to distribute air quietly and evenly. To create a steady, unobstructed airflow, the Cooling Pad N100 uses rear air intake which generate airflow from angles that are easily blocked by the laptop itself or loose articles of clothing. Plus, the enclosed, durable construction protects the internal fan from dust and damage – as claimed by the company.
The Cooling Pad N100 also includes a low power-consumption USB cable that connects to your computer with minimal impact on your notebook’s battery – which is a good move by Logitech, which is to prevent the accessory from borrowing too much of power from the laptop.
The Logitech Cooling Pad N100 is expected to be available in the U.S. in March and Europe in April for a suggested retail price of $29.99 (U.S.).
