FSC launches 300GB SATA laptop drive

Fujitsu-Siemens announces a 300GB 2.5 inch hard drive using perpendicular magnetic recording technology.
The new drive, called MHX2300BT will be available in the first quarter of next year.
Features:
- perpendicular magnetic recording technology, which is essential in achieving the increased capacity per platter
- low power consumption at 1.6W
- high shock tolerance
- near-silent operation
- storage capacities of 250GB and 300GB
- 4,200RPM rotational speed
- SATA 2.5 and ATA-8 interface, with native command queuing, DIPM and HIPM support, staggered spin-up & active LED support and hot plug provision
- average track-to-track seek time of 1.5ms
- maximum host transfer rate of 150MB/s
- high operating shock tolerance of 300G (2ms)
