This mini-notebook will be available in December, says Amazon UK

The hardware and accessory company Hercules introduced its new Hercules eCAFE EC-1000W netbook. According to Amazon.co.uk, the netbook will cost £328.88 (≈$547) and will be released in December 2009.

Design

The first thing that customers may notice is the attractive design of this new product. It is what sets the eCAFE EC-1000W apart from many netbooks on the market. The cover has a metallic luster that allegedly changes as one looks from different angles. Furthermore, the power button is integrated into the hinge of this device. The keyboard has separated flat keys. According to Hercules it is comfortable and comprises 88% of a standard PC keyboard. Reportedly, the speakers are placed on top of the deck, which adds to the overall appealing design of the eCAFE EC-1000W.

Specs

This new mini-laptop is equipped with a glossy 10.1-inch 1024-by-600 display and is powered by Intel’s Atom N270 processor clocked at 1.6GHz. In addition, the eCAFÉ EC-1000W houses a spacious 250GB hard drive and 1GB of memory. Included in the box is also a 6-cell battery.

Connectivity options and OS

The Hercules eCAFE EC-1000W has 3 USB ports and 4-in-1 card reader. Moreover, it comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 N and Microsoft’s Windows 7 Starter Edition. Allegedly, the company might also release a Linux version as it did with its EC-900 series.

The mini-notebook has typical specs but an attractive overall design.
