Last year, Backbone launched a Death Stranding edition of the Backbone One mobile controller. The limited-edition controller was released in partnership with Kojima Productions to mark the video game's debut on Apple's App Store. Now, more than a year later, it has once again partnered with the game developer (and PlayStation) for a special edition based on the sequel, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.
The Backbone One Death Stranding 2 Edition is based on the Backbone One PlayStation Edition (available on Amazon for $99). This means instead of ABXY action buttons, it has triangle, circle, cross, and square buttons. However, like the standard version and the Xbox Edition, this new Backbone One controller editoon is compatible with both Android smartphones and iPhones with a USB-C port.

The Backbone One Death Stranding 2 Edition features a blue translucent faceplate. It also includes a blue aluminium D-pad, action buttons, shoulder buttons, and triggers. The back is also blue, but it isn't translucent, and it is a different shade. It also features a yellow translucent clamp with Backbone and Drawbridge's logo on the front and the game's name on the back.
There are only 1,350 units of the Backbone One Death Stranding 2 Edition, and each unit ships with a commemorative collector's tag and an individually numbered rugged collectible case. Save for the color and the included gifts, the controller is functionally identical to the standard edition.
The Backbone One Death Stranding 2 Edition controller is compatible with PlayStation Remote Play as well as cloud gaming services such as GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, and Apple Arcade. The product costs $159.99, which is quite pricey considering it doesn't include a free copy of the game like last year's edition. It will be available to buy starting on November 6 at 9 AM PDT directly from Backbone and Best Buy Drops, and at 12 noon JST on the Kojima Productions Store.
