Amazon has announced that its Luna cloud gaming service is getting revamped. The new version of Luna will bring a new feature called GameNight that is designed to bring friends and family together using specially designed and curated games that are meant to be played together.

Amazon's cloud gaming service, Luna, was first announced in 2022. The service allows users to play games by simply streaming them from cloud servers to their devices such as a TV, computer, tablet, and smartphone. All that is required is a good internet connection, a controller, and an Amazon Prime subscription.

Now, Amazon has announced that it will release a new version of Amazon Luna later this year, and it will come with a brand new feature called GameNight. Amazon describes GameNight as a collection of social party games that can be played together with friends and family.

While Luna does have its share of local co-op titles, GameNight titles are specially designed to be played by friends and family, and the best part is that, there's no need for each player to have a game controller. Instead, they use their smartphones as a controller after scanning a QR code on the screen.

Amazon says GameNight titles will include exclusive games that are developed by Amazon, one of which is Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg, which will be a launch title. The AI-powered game requires players to invent characters, cook up wild stories, and defend their testimonies in front of the judge (Snoop Dogg).

In addition to the Amazon-exclusive games, GameNight's catalog will also include multiplayer titles such as Angry Birds, Draw & Guess, Exploding Kittens, Flappy Golf Party, Cluedo, Ticket to Ride, and Taboo. Amazon says all of these titles have been adapted for GameNight. More titles will also be added regularly.

Alongside GameNight, the revamped Luna will also bring new titles such as Hogwarts LegacyIndiana Jones and the Great Circle, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, TopSpin 2K25, Dave the Diver, and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, among others.

For these games, players will require a controller such as Amazon's own Luna Wireless Controller which is currently $39.99, a 43% off its launch price of $69.99. They can also choose to use a different Bluetooth controller or a mouse and keyboard.

There's no specific date for the release of the new version of Luna, but Amazon did say it will launch later this year.
