CES 2020 | Asus TUF A15/A17 gaming laptops coming with Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 7 4800H CPUs and GeForce RTX 2060 graphics
Asus has always been a bigger proponent of AMD-powered gaming laptops than other OEMs including MSI, Dell, and HP. The upcoming 14-inch Zephyrus G14, for example, will the first and only laptop with the 3rd gen Renoir Ryzen 7 4800HS CPU due to a limited time exclusivity deal with AMD.
AMD fans who aren't ready to pay $1500 for the higher-end Zephyrus G14, however, can opt for the less expensive 15.6-inch Asus TUF A15 or 17.3-inch TUF A17 instead. Both models will carry 45 W Ryzen 4000 H series CPUs (not the 35 W Ryzen 4000 HS series) with DDR4-3200 RAM up to 32 GB. GPU options, however, will be different as the A15 and A17 are expected to ship with the RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 Ti, respectively.
Interestingly, Asus is planning to offer the A15 and A17 with plastic or aluminum outer lid options. If plastic, then the thickness of the A15 and A17 will be 2.49 cm and 2.60 cm, respectively. If aluminum, then the A15 and A17 will be slightly thinner at 2.47 cm and 2.52 cm, respectively.
The TUF A15 and A17 will likely replace last year's TUF FX505 and FX705. Asus will also offer the TUF F15 and F17 that are expected to be visually identical to the A15 and A17 albeit with different internal configurations.
