Samsung Galaxy devices have always had strong visual designs and the upcoming Galaxy Chromebook will be no different. The South Korean OEM plans to position the upcoming convertible as a high-end offering with high-end specifications that read like a flagship Ultrabook.
According to the press release, the aluminum-clad 13.3-inch Galaxy Chromebook XE930QCA will ship with a 10th gen Intel Core i5 CPU, 4K UHD OLED HDR400 touchscreen, up to 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM, Wi-Fi 6, and up to 1 TB of internal storage with a built-in pen not unlike the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen. The system will even integrate stereo (2 W x 2) speakers to be an entertainment powerhouse relative to other Chromebooks already in the market.
Samsung has not specified whether the 15 W 10th gen Intel CPU will be a Core i5 Ice Lake or Comet Lake SKU.
Of course, the drawback to the fancy hardware is price as the Galaxy Chromebook will be two times more expensive than those from Lenovo, Dell, or HP. It's clear that Samsung wants to target younger professionals and office users rather than educational institutions or large-scale enterprises that cheaper alternatives tend to cater for.
Expect the Galaxy Chromebook to launch by the end of Q1 2020 in Red and Gray color options.
