High-end products always get the spotlight when it comes to major events like CES, but that doesn't mean we should ignore the smaller announcements on more affordable models. Asus will be updating its VivoBook family of mid-range laptops for the new year with new designs and new CPU options to replace the Whiskey Lake-U models of yesteryear.
The first model will be the 2020 VivoBook S13 (S333) to replace the older 2018 VivoBook S13 (S330). Port options appear to be identical between them even though the newer model will be thinner by 3 mm (17.9 mm vs. 14.9 mm). Users will be able to configure the system with Wi-Fi 6, up to the Core i7-1065G7 Ice Lake CPU, 1 TB PCIe M.2 SSD with Optane H10, and "the latest Nvidia GeForce GPU" that will likely be the GeForce MX330 or MX350.
The second model will be the 2020 VivoBook S15 (S533) to replace the 2018 VivoBook S15 (S530). Users will be able to configure up to the Core i7-10510U with GeForce MX250 graphics and the same 1 TB PCIe SSD with Optane H10 as the smaller VivoBook S13 above. Both will share the same refreshed design language.
Note that the new systems will not come with ScreenPad options unlike on last year's VivoBook S15 (S532). Exact launch dates and prices have yet to be revealed.
