watchOS 10.6.1 and tvOS 17.6.1: New updates for Apple Watch and Apple TV released

After Apple recently released the iOS 17.6.1, iPadOS 17.6.1 und macOS 14.6.1 updates, the next two bug fix updates are now out. watchOS 10.6.1 and tvOS 17.6.1 have recently been made available for download on Apple's servers.

The new watchOS 10.6.1 for Apple's smartwatches fixes a bug that prevented users from accessing Apple Fitness+ on their wearables in certain cases. Anyone who uses Apple's fitness service and has been affected by this problem should download the update. However, watchOS 10.6.1 does not introduce any new functions.

The installation of the new version of watchOS is possible for models from Apple Watch 4 and newer and is carried out in the usual way via the Apple Watch app on the connected iPhone, on which iOS 17 must be installed.

tvOS 17.6.1 is also likely to be a bug fix update for the various Apple TV generations. Apple has not yet revealed what specific improvements the update brings. Here, too, the download is carried out in the usual way, namely directly via the device itself under "Settings -> System -> Software Updates -> Update Software".

These are presumably the last bug fix updates for watchOS 10.6 and tvOS 17.6. After all, the major launch of a new generation of software, which Apple presented at WWDC 2024 in June, is imminent. The launch of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 and watchOS 11 will take place soon. Apple is already busy distributing beta versions of the operating systems for the iPhone, iPad, Macs and Apple Watch, which feature various new features.
