The RedMagic 8 Pro is on track to become the only Android smartphone with a truly edge-to-edge display and the new top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC on the international market in 2023. It is also touted to offer an improved design and advanced cooling on its late-January debut. It also ships with a relatively huge battery - albeit, as its latest teaser reveals, with caveats.

The 8 Pro has been officially confirmed to arrive in markets such as the United States with the same 6,000mAh battery as on its initial China-only launch - which, as that spec is etched right into its "evolved" rear panel in traditional RedMagic style, is a good thing. However, this potential advantage is now revealed as coming with a compromise on the premium smartphone's original specs.

Despite this, the 8 Pro is RedMagic's latest vanilla flagship, as it has a top-end 8 Pro+ sibling that is seemingly exclusiv to the Chinese market. Unfortunately, it is now clear that this is also the case for its (nearly) top-end 165W charging technology - in fact, the upcoming smartphone does not even get the new 80W spec of its Chinese-market counterpart, and will ship with the more established 65W standard instead.

That rate will nonetheless beat the second-gen UDC smartphone's rivals in the flagship Android space internationally - well, most of them. Then again, its market-leading capacity might now turn to a slight disadvantage as it might still stretch its charging times to near-normal levels.

RedMagic has yet to confirm whether the 8 Pro will ship with a compatible charger in the box from its January 16, 2023 global debut or not.

Do you need an Anker Nano II 65W from Amazon for your new 8 Pro? Only time will tell.
