As we inch closer to Apple's iPhone launch season, rumors from prominent sources tend to pick up pace as the supply chain rolls up its sleeves. We have already heard quite a lot regarding the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro family, and now a fresh tidbit from a reliable source brings some good news for the non-Pro variants as well.
Slimmer bezels across the board
According to the well-known tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the upcoming Apple iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will boast ultra-thin bezels - an update that was previously thought to be limited to the Pro variants. Digital Chat Station has not shared any exact measurements, which makes it difficult to guess just how much thinner the bezels will be this year.
Last year's iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models featured new display sizes at 6.3 and 6.9-inches, accompanied by thinner bezels all around. Considering that the vanilla iPhone 17 is also set to sport a 6.3-inch display, the "ultra-thin" bezels, as claimed by DCS, do make sense. The Apple iPhone 17 Air is expected to boast an even larger display, somewhere in the range of 6.6-inches.
Other notable changes expected for the Apple iPhone 17 lineup are listed as follows:
- High-refresh rate displays for all the variants
- Apple-design custom modem
- Upgraded front cameras
- New 5.5 mm-thin "Air" variant that replaces the "Plus"
With roughly two months left until Apple's iPhone event, those holding out for an upgrade don't seem to have much waiting to do to find out what the Cupertino giant has in store for them.
