Best Buy has announced that it has unlocked its iPhone range, in the sense that it now sells SIM-free units of the Apple flagship mobile devices as well as their carrier-bound counterparts. This means that a buyer can now pay for their new unit without the pressure to activate it without delay.
The same consumer can also pay for their new unlocked iPhone in full, without committing to a monthly plan via either T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon or AT&T as usual. Then again, there is a catch: the newest iPhones included in the new deal are the 13 and 13 Mini.
The 13 Pro and Pro Max, on the other hand, remain available via the traditional carrier plans, as do the newer 14 series, its Plus and first-gen Dynamic Island-equipped Pro-series variants included. Then again, Best Buy still offers trade-ins on unlocked iPhones. The store's new 13 Mini and 13 non-carrier options start at US$629.99 and US$729.99 respectively.
