Xiaomi reportedly cancels 15 Civi launch at last minute

A new addition to the Xiaomi 15 series that might have packed Leica cameras for a better price is not coming to India after all, according to a new leak. The smartphone could also have offered the combination of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor and a flagship-sized battery to a new market, but apparently it is not to be.

In what might be the best news for the Vivo V50 all day, it seems its potential Xiaomi rival is not coming to blow its spot on the Indian smartphone market up after all.

Xiaomi might have been expected to launch a successor to the 14 Civi around now, which would almost inevitably have been a re-brand of the Civi 5 Pro for a new market.

The first-gen Leica Night Selfie God camera smartphone might have been expected to start at around INR 36,999, just like the Zeiss Group Selfie-equipped V50 at the time of writing.

However, Xiaomi seems to have decided to abandon that tier in India, according to a new SmartPrix report.

The Civi 5 Pro also has a more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a bright 1.5K AMOLED display and a large 6,000mAh battery - now we might never know if the latter would have been the same in the apparently cancelled 15 Civi.
