A new power brick has reportedly been submitted to China's 3C regulator - by Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo simultaneously, in an apparent act of convergent smartphone hardware evolution.
All 3 accessories allegedly have the same up-to-100 watt (W) output, although Xiaomi's version has a 20 volt(V)/5 amp (A) system while that of Oppo is 11V/9.1A.
They have all reportedly been made for the same reason, though: to work with new 8,000mAh batteries.
That might help ensure that next-gen smartphones from Vivo, Xiaomi or Oppo launch with the cutting-edge spec without compromising on their charging ability - perhaps even those from the 3 companies' sub-brands like Redmi, OnePlus or iQoo.
Both brands have already made battery/charging strides with the Redmi Turbo 4, Ace 5 and Z10 Turbo lines, and could now thus launch as their series' first 8,000mAh handsets - presuming their flagship K90 Pro and 15 counterparts don't get there first.
