Xiaomi may well be the first OEM to adopt Qualcomm's next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. The company will launch the Xiaomi 16 series in a matter of months, and new leaks have now revealed more information on the lineup.
According to Experience More, the Xiaomi 16 series is scheduled to debut in late September. Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit is currently penciled in for September 23 - September 25, and it's likely that the Xiaomi 16 launches the week after that. Reportedly, the Xiaomi 16 may go on sale in the first week of October, with Xiaomi hoping to capitalize on China's Golden Week holiday period.
As for the Xiaomi 16 series phones themselves, leaks over the past few months have revealed some of the biggest hardware improvements they'll arrive with. The latest one, however, seems to indicate the presence of a new 50 MP selfie camera. It's unclear if this will be valid on the vanilla Xiaomi 16 but the more expensive models in the series can be expected to see an upgrade from the 32 MP selfie snappers on last year's phones, to new 50 MP sensors.
