Xiaomi launches the Poco C71 to take on the Samsung Galaxy M06

Xiaomi has unveiled its latest Poco C71 entry-level smartphone in India. Xiaomi’s latest smartphone is a rebadged version of the Redmi A5 (curr. at $139.99 on Amazon), which debuted on the 1st of April in the global markets. A direct successor to the C61 will compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy M06 and Infinix Smart 9 HD in the Indian market. 

Let’s start with the display. The Poco C71 features a 6.88-inch IPS LCD HD+ display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 600 nits. Plus, the phone features TUV low blue light flicker-free certification and supports wet touch. Despite being an entry-level smartphone, it comes with IP52 dust and water resistance. Around the back, there is a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 32 MP main camera and a secondary camera. Upfront, it has an 8 MP selfie camera. 

Inside, the C71 has a Unisoc T2750 Max processor, which is paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage with room for storage expansion up to 2 TB via microSD card. Software-wise, the device runs Android 15 (Go Edition) out of the box, and the company promises two years of Android upgrades and four years of security updates for the smartphone. 

A 5,200 mAh battery powers the internals and supports 15 W wired charging. The rest of the highlights include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, dual-band WiFi, and 4G connectivity. Dimensionally, the device is almost similar to the Redmi A5, measuring 8.2 mm (0.32 inches) in thickness and weighing around 193 grams (0.42 lbs.)

Available in power black, desert gold, and cool blue colorways, the Poco C71 starts at INR 6,499 (~$76) for the base 4 GB + 64 GB variant, and the 6 GB + 128 GB variant is priced at INR 7,499 ($87). It will be available for purchase via Flipkart starting from 8th April.
