Xiaomi launches new heat pump washer-dryer with AI wash suggestions

Xiaomi has launched its first heat pump washer-dryer in China, the Mijia Washing Machine Delicate Wash Pro Supreme Edition Heat Pump Washer-Dryer 13kg. The machine carries a recommended price of CNY 6,499 (about $970) and is on sale through Xiaomi Youpin.

The machine washes up to 13kg and dries up to 9kg in a standard-size body. Its heat pump reuses the heat circulating inside the machine rather than generating fresh heat for every cycle. A high-density, double-layer filter collects lint and debris, and users can choose from 35 wash and dry programs and 11 care programs.

Xiaomi claims the heat pump uses 73% less electricity than a condenser washer-dryer. The company says a dual-fan design makes drying 49% faster, while a top-mounted heat pump system reduces refrigerant flow resistance and improves heat exchange by 59%.

Washing relies on Xiaomi's super electrolysis technology, which first appeared on the Mijia Washer Dryer Set Pro in December. Xiaomi quotes a wash ratio of 1.3 and says the machine removes 20 types of stubborn stains and whitens yellowed clothes in a single wash. The company also claims its cold-water electrolysis sterilization kills 99% of bacteria.

A care system built on Xiaomi's in-house algorithms and large language models handles program selection. Users describe the fabric, color, and stains of a load, and the system recommends a program and settings to match. The washer-dryer connects to Xiaomi's smart home ecosystem, allowing control through the Xiaomi Home app and Xiaomi speakers and remote monitoring of wash progress from a phone.

The launch follows the Mijia Washing Machine Pro 12kg, which Xiaomi released in January with a 12kg wash and 9kg dry capacity for CNY 3,528 (about $525). The new model adds 1kg of washing capacity and keeps the same drying capacity. Xiaomi has not said whether the washer-dryer will launch outside China.
