Xiaomi has launched MIUI for TV 3.0 software for its Mi TV range. The new overlay brings an enhanced user interface with it along with detailed animations for the menu and new operating modes, including a gamepad mode. MIUI for TV 3.0 is based on the Android TV operating system.

MIUI for TV 3.0 has been launched for the Xiaomi Mi TV series of devices, although apparently it is currently limited to owners of a Mi TV in Asia. Owners of Xiaomi smart televisions in other regions will have to wait and see if MIUI for TV 3.0 gets rolled out further afield. Unsurprisingly, the software update brings a number of new features and UI enhancements with it.

New animations in the MIUI for TV 3.0 user interface have been created to enable the user to make their viewing selections easier. Content and information about a particular show or movie can be read by the user while remaining on the main screen. A gamepad mode and microphone mode have also been integrated into MIUI for TV 3.0 to enable interactive control of the smart TV via additional devices/methods.

The latest Xiaomi overlay allows for remote app installation, so a user can download a particular app on a smartphone before transferring it over to the TV. A reverse control function in MIUI for TV 3.0 allows for casting the TV screen’s content onto a smartphone, should the user desire it. This all provides for greater device interaction between a Xiaomi smart TV and a Xiaomi smartphone, with the refreshed UI looking more modern and supposedly delivering a better AI performance than the previous software version.
